Hattie Mae  and PALS Foundation was founded in 2009 as a non-profit. The mission is designed to implement a nationwide awareness campaign called "Healthy & Yummy!"

Our approach is to combine education with entertainment in teaching young children aged 2 to 12 years of age and grades first to six on the benefits of choosing a healthier dietary selection to combat childhood obesity.

Hattie Mae’s messages will be fun, positive, and upbeat, promoting healthy eating habits and physical activities that reflects Hattie Mae's and Mama Mae's - Our Goodwill and Good Health Ambassadors mission.

  Tree's Story

Thealious T. (Tree) Smith

A mother, U.S. Retired Veteran - U.S. Army, and the personal assistant to the late and former Secretary of State Madeleine Korbel Albright.

On September 27, 1999, doctors at Johns Hopkins hospital gave “Tree” 2 to 4 weeks to live. She was diagnosed with Glioblastomas Multiforme Level IV, a rare brain tumor at the age of 33.

On October 26, 1999, we as sisters made a promise to make a difference in the lives of young children. From this promise was born the animated character Hattie Mae and the mission of the Hattie Mae and PALS Foundation.

On October 27, 1999

Tree died just as she lived…peacefully.
